Atoll Adventures bases its operation from the Chaaya Island Dhonveli Beach & Spa (formerly Tari Village Resort then Dhonveli Resort), on the islet of Kanu Huraa. Dhonveli means “crystal white sand” and that is just one of the attractions of this just above sea level, islet paradise. Chaaya Island Dhonveli is a five star resort that is popular with European snowbirds, honeymooners, SCUBA divers, fishermen and the surfing crowd.

Chaaya Island Dhonveli is a not a surf resort, it’s a four-star resort that has contracted Atoll Adventures and WaterWays to caters to surfers because it happens to have a perfect left wrapping around one side. There are 150 rooms at the resort, but the total number of surfers is limited to 30, and those 30 have exclusive access to Pasta Point, the left reef that breaks a martini-olive’s throw from the bar and restaurant.

Dhonveli is less than 10 miles from the main airport at Male, a 30 minute transfer by speed boat. The resort has a small armada of modern and traditional and dhoni style boats for surf, dive, fishing and island hopping trips, and the surf boats are on hand at all times – on your schedule.

A short boat ride from the resort across the channel are three more of the best Maldivian reef breaks: Sultan’s, Honky’s and Jailbreaks. No matter what the wind or swell or tide are doing in season, there will be surf during your stay.

The resort offers all the services and facilities you would expect from an upscale resort including the option of spectacular over water bungalows, massage & spa, tennis, huge pool, white sand beach, diving, fine dining island hopping, fishing and modern communications. (unfortunately no golf in the Maldives as the islands are all too small).

If you got married to a civilian non-surfer and want to honeymoon in a place that will make both of you happy: This is the spot. Anyone who comes to the Maldives and finds something to complain about… well do you want to be married to that person?
