Golfo de Fonseca:
Visit the gulf that El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua share together with stunning volcanic islands, small fishing villages and black-sand beaches. Isla Meanguera is the highlight of this excursion.
Alegria is one of the most picturesque towns of El Salvador and famous for flowers. There is a nearby lake that is said to contain medicinal properties in the water! Do not miss the beautiful view from Mirador de Los Cien Grados.
Only 6km away from the City of La Union, at the foot of the Volcano with the same name you will find a quiet town with one of the very few Colonial structures still standing after the earthquakes in this part of the country. Visit the 300 year old Colonial Church of Santiago Apostol and try some of their famous pupusas.
Boat Tour of Lagunas de San Miguel:
Laguna el Jocotal is the largest bird sanctuary in El Salvador, hosting 214 species of birds.
Perquin was the headquarters of the FMLN during El Salvador’s civil war and has an excellent museum of this war. The ‘Rio Sapo’ goes nearby and is the cleanest river in the country and a protected natural area. Great to swim in and hike around a beautiful landscape!
