PERU -Why isn't Peru, with its rich surfing history, super-consistent surf and wide variety of waves ranging from long lefts points to 30-foot peaks, one of the world's major surf destinations? What do you care-it's there, it's waiting and it's pumping right now. With a wide range of options available for you, Peru should be your next destination.

Opening May 2007, Chicama Surf Resort, offers not only first class service and amenities, but is in front of the longest left in the world, Chicama which lends itself to rides up to one mile.  Your surf guides are also available to take you to breaks such as Pacasmayo, known locally as the “Pasasmayo Express” offering endless lefts with several sections of incredible speed and perfection.   When Pacasmayo starts to lose its shape, a new wall forms all over again.  Pacasmayo is among the top 5 spots in the world for wind sports.  For the advanced surfer you’ll have the opportunity to surf Poemape, known for its regional classic hollow, fast left from 3 to 12 feet and rides up to 300 meters at a time.   Last but not least, surf Huanchaco, offering a left and right beach break from 3 to 8 foot.   Chicama Surf Resort should be your choice for an all around excellent Peruvian experience with all the benefits and superb class.

Just 43 km south of Lima, Pico Alto International Surf Camp in Punta Hermosa offers classic accommodations, food, and a wide variety of surf.    Along this storied stretch of coast lie over 17 major surf spots that break anywhere from four feet to four or five times overhead. Believe us-not enough surf is seldom an issue in Peru. In fact the opposite is usually the case. Regardless, your host and surf guide who have a long history in this area, will get you the best surf to suit your skill level and mood on any given day.

For adventure which will get you far outside the suburbs of Lima, we can arrange packages to Northern Peru including Playa Blanca. Both the air and water temperatures increase greatly in this region; you can shed the full-suit for a shorty or boardshorts. Bungalows Playa Blanca are located approximately 720 miles north of Lima on a beautiful sandy beach. Without any neighbors, uncrowded surf is the name of this game. The modest bungalows accommodate 2-4 persons each and are only steps from the beach. Meals include a variety of fresh seafood provided by the local fishing village. Your surf guides are available with transportation to get you into the best surf each day.

Located in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons are reversed to those in the U.S. Peru gets good waves year-round, but breaks best between January and June, with water ranging from 56 to 68 degrees-cool, but a pleasant change from the heat that can be experienced along this desert coast. Warm is the reception from Peruvian locals whose spirit of hospitality has become legendary among traveling surfers.
Then, if time allows, spice up your trip to South America with an excursion to the legendary lost city of Machu Pichu or the ultra-exotic Amazon Jungle.
